What I Needed

Isn’t this what we Filipinos in every part of the globe need? I mean, I myself longs for a Filipino camaraderie no matter how busy I get at times. There is something about Filipino bonding that seems therapeutic to me. I have been here in America of over ten years yet I still suffer what we call, “homesickness”.

With the help of Filipinas around, I feel better. The longing to speak with my own language around them, the Filipino food they serve and we share are just awesome! I wonder how am I gonna survive when we totally move in to our country house this summer when it is 3 hours away from DFW metroplex where most of my Filipinas friends live. The closest Filipina I know so far lives an hour away from where we’re gonna move!

Anyway, after 7 months of not being able to hangout with these ladies pictured below, I finally was able got invited and attended with their small ordinary feast two days ago. We spent 5 long hours at Jasmine’s house located just 4 blocks away from us. We ate, talked, took a mile-short hike after eating, they danced and sung karaoke. It was an evening well-spent with fun Filipinas around.

I am thankful for their company and the food so readily available for us to eat!

… I was surprised to come to their house and so much food served at the table. I did not expect it to be this much!

… my plate and some of the foods on the table. I especially loved the soup, tamban dried fish and the ginataan not pictured.
