New Chickens for Eggs

We took these new babies home in July 27th. There were 8 of them, 3 were killed and eaten alive by Rowdy. Deeymmm dog! Hoping the 5 remaining chicks will grow and provide us eggs for everyday consumption. They hatched May 15th according to the lady who sold us these chicks and will start laying in November.

I am thrilled with the idea of eating fresh eggs, checking the chickens in their coop will give the girls something to do to get their bottom off the couch. I am planning of buying more chickens and several quails also for same reason. Now, to figure out how to keep these new babies from being eaten by wild animals especially raccoons and hawks!

We got an old chicken that’s still alive and kicking, so far it’s consistently giving us egg.
