Log Home Christmas Decoration 2017

This is going to be our first Christmas in our log home this year. We are in the country and farmhouse decors will be appropriate. However, I got tons of Christmas decorations, some of them are still new in original packaging unopened. I would like to enjoy using them first before ditching them and be replaced with anything country or farmhouse.

Here are some of the decors we’ve done in the house so far. I am not done decorating yet, I still got the dining area to do, table set up and such. I like how the lights and decors bring so much warmth and set our mood to feel the spirit of Christmas.

This year’s color will be green, red and gold. The staircase railing is also decorated as you can see in the picture below, it is my first time to decorate such a thing you know? The girls are thrilled now that we have two of our trees up. They so look forward for the presents to appear under our big tree in the living room.

Two Inches of Snow in March

Who would have thought that we can get more snow this late? We had some pretty good snow last week and I thought that was the first and last snow we will have this season, but obviously, I am wrong. White white surroundings greeted us when we woke up this morning which we did not expect at all.

I watched the news at 5 in the afternoon yesterday and only heard a sleet… it just always brings joy to our eyes and heart whenever we get some snow here in North Texas for it doesn’t happen every winter. This time, there is more snow than we had last week, awesome!

Photo below I took earlier with our friend, Olaf. He dropped by to give us some warm hugs hehe. Today has no school, therefore, it’s going to be a fun day for me and my girls. Letting them out to play the snow is like a treat to them. Snow is fun and beautiful if we don’t go driving somewhere!

Our winter is complete this year because we got snow twice and from here, I can say, I am ready to move on to the next season, Spring and see beautiful blooms in my front flower gardens.

The Oldest Person I Met

I feel honored to have met the oldest person alive and she is our neighbor from across the street. Meet Anese, 99 years old who at her age still shows sophistication and class. She is obviously from a well-to-do family and had a good job earlier in her life. She is also a well-traveled woman, according to her. She will be 100 years old this December. That is just so amazing to know her personally.

She lives in her own home independently although she has a caregiver and a nurse come by her house and check on her. Some relatives and friends visit her to bring some goodies and groceries. Her daughter Laurese that lives in Missouri drives 16 hours to visit her mother occasionally. Knowing that she has all these people that care about her, you can tell that she is a nice woman.

My two grandmothers are still alive but they are only both 85 years old, my former father in-law was only 77 years old when he died. You see, it is not every day we can meet people who live for long years and for that makes me want to wish to live longer like our neighbor too.

How about you readers out there? What is the oldest person you know/met in your life?

Older Neighborhood

…. above photo is clear shot of Rockmoor Drive where our house can be located.. we were going home from a long walk when I took this one today

According to my husband he cannot live in a newer neighborhood as it has no yard (so very little privacy from people passing by peeking into his windows), narrow streets, short driveway and houses aren’t impressive. They are just like boxes with cover on top from afar forming a house. B-O-R-I-N-G as he say. For him, living in a new neighborhood are best suited for people who do not do any yard work, someone who will just go to work, go home, stay inside the house, sleep and go to work again.

Certainly he wouldn’t change a thing where we are at right now. It is such a privilege to live in an older, nicer, quieter and peaceful(less crimes, no scumbags around) neighborhood like Edgecliff Village.

We have just moved in this place three months ago and already we have learned to like the place, a lot! Friendly neighbors as well as wider streets that you wouldn’t worry for your child to be in danger when you go out for a walk for it is just very quiet here. Just perfect for raising a family!

Since it was such a beautiful day at Wintertime here in our place, we took advantage of strolling around this new neighborhood we’re in. Actually it has been a week we had plenty of sunshine but yesterday and today was perfect to not feel the chills at all although it was gusty yet enough to enjoy the fresh air and the pretty view this place can offer.

So here goes the pictures taken from my mobile phone yesterday and today just to prove how beautiful the weather here lately.

…the house on top of the hill I saw yesterday… the photo shows the back view of the house which for me looks neat and cool.
….my baby with her doll in a carriage just started our walk two houses down from our home..
… Edgecliff neighborhood, the road here is kind of elevated so she was going faster this time…
… thankfully I found a mini park just in this block we belong, I plan of going there when I need time to get away from the house for a short time..

…. one of the houses that I like at the back of our house..

….the sign says CLIFFISDE PARK and am lovin’ it
…… also the little playground 4 blocks away located in a new neighborhood… to get there, we’ll have to cross two busy streets!
